Founded in 2010 as a football team for Diamond Trust Bank (DTB) employees, the DTB Football Club garnered considerable attention and enthusiasm after achieving success in local bank bonanzas. This success led to the DTB leadership investing further in the team, propelling it to compete in the First Division League (Championship). After an impressive performance that saw the team being promoted to the Premier League in 2022, DTB decided to divest from the football club to focus on its core banking operations. This presented an opportunity for stakeholders from the Singida region to acquire the team, resulting in a name change from DTB FC to Singida Big Stars.
The 2022/2023 season saw Singida Big Stars participate in the NBC Premier League, where it excelled due to its strategic recruitment of high-quality international players and those who previously played for major Tanzanian clubs, including Simba, Yanga, Azam, Mtibwa, and Mbeya City. The club's success is attributed to the quality of the players, a robust technical bench, and effective leadership. Following a successful 2022/23 season that culminated in a fourth-place finish in the Tanzania Premier League, Singida Big Stars received an attractive offer from investor Fountain Gate Academy.
Motivated by a vision of further improvement and modernization, Fountain Gate Academy acquired Singida Big Stars. After the acquisition, a merger was formed between Singida Big Stars and Fountain Gate Academy, leading to the club's rebranding to Singida Fountain Gate FC.
Singida Fountain Gate FC is now poised to participate in the Tanzania Premier League and CAF Confederation Cup for the 2023/2024 season, marking another significant milestone in its journey.
